Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary, located between Chilaw and Puttalam, is a Ramsar-listed wetland and one of Sri Lanka’s most important bird habitats, featuring ancient, interconnected tanks dating back to the 12th century. Home to over 150 bird species along with diverse mammals, butterflies, and reptiles, it offers excellent birdwatching, especially during the migratory season from October to April.
